The Gloster Meteor FR.9 is known as the armed reconnaissance version of Britain’s first operational jet fighter. Based on the F.8 fighter version of the aircraft, this jet fighter replaced Spitfires and Mosquitos in this role. Known for having an extended nose to house the Williamson F.24 camera, this had the option to fire either forward or port of starboard facing. An external wing and ventral fuel tanks extended the crafts range even further.
