Product Description

A modern take on the family board game with a few extras.

Hasbro Cluedo: Liars' Edition

  • Hit the liar button if you think someone's telling a fib
  • Make use of 12 investigation cards
  • Be the first to solve the case

An Update For 2020

Making a timely appearance in our post-truth society comes a new version of an old family classic. Appropriately, Cluedo: Liars edition rewards dishonesty and encourages you to be economical with the truth. The aim of the game is the same as always, although the hapless victim now has a name to make everything seem more real (RIP Dr. Black!). Six suspects, six weapons, a mansion-full of rooms. But just who did what, and where? Equipped with a pencil and a list, it's your job to find out before your opponents.

A Modern Mansion

There's certainly a much more modern feel to this edition. A creepy creaking castle gives way to the kind of building that comes with its own security team and Professor Plum is now listed as just Plum to comply with GDPR data laws. Even the murder implements have undergone a modern twist - they're now cunningly hidden within various 21st century objects such as a book or a sandwich. Meanwhile, a drinks can of poison and a statue of a gnome are welcome additions to the thriving lethal weapon scene - although the gnome looks sinister enough to have played more than just a passive role in Dr. Black's demise.

So How Is It Different From The Original?

The addition of investigation cards (6 truth and 6 lie cards), which can be played at any time, is the first major difference. The contents of these cards must be read aloud, at which point opponents may hit the liar button, if they suspect their husband, wife, brother or sister is lying again. A series of evidence cards then complicate things further or add an exciting new dimension depending on your perspective.

Dishonest Board Games

If you're a competitive soul for whom falsification and fabrication are second nature in the quest for victory, then check out Monopoly - Cheaters' Edition. Meanwhile, other versions of Cluedo are available in their droves, from a Sherlock edition to a Big Bang Theory edition.
